Where all the knights and wenches are.

If you've learned anything from this blog, it should be that Eric is a nerd in every sense. Hence, I was not surprised at all when he asked me if we could buy tickets to the Kansas City Renaissance Festival. In fact, I was surprised he didn't ask me sooner.

On Saturday, we made our way to Bonner Springs, Kans., for the Ren Fest. I think it was everything we expected it to be. There was an astonishing amount of free shows, amazing turkey legs and mead, and a very happy husband. We took Eric's micro-4/3 camera and tried to be good about capturing the day's festivities.

Putting out the Fire

A few weeks ago, we tried desperately to get tickets to the Sporting KC/Chicago Fire game Friday, and to our disappointment, the game was sold out. Well, at least the Member's Stand, lovingly referred to as the 'Cauldron' by all SKC fans, which is the only place we're really interested in sitting (read: standing the entire time).

Ten hours before game time, a friend and one of Eric's coworkers found tickets being sold by someone at Eric's work. Pure joy and immense excitement ensued when Eric emailed me at work saying we had gotten the tickets. Holy crap, yes! I could not wait to wear my new Sporting KC apparel. Kudos to Eric for three out of four birthday gifts revolving around the Sporting.

Our Friday night went from having no plans to the perfect plan. We watched our team beat the Chicago Fire 2-0 (sorry I'm not sorry to my Chicago friends). There was nonstop cheering, yelling at a terrible ref and crazy celebration when Graham Zusi scored his second goal of the game in the final three seconds.

Eek. I love my team.

I also had some pretty witty tweets, if I must say so myself. Which, I must.

one, 2, 3.

Today is my 23rd birthday. Yay!

On both my work and at-home desks, there are numerous post-it notes with of random ideas I get, ranging from different goals I want to accomplish, to projects I need to do or professional groups I need to look into. I've seen a lot of my favorite bloggers that make lists for themselves to accomplish by their next birthday. I'm going for it guys.

My 24 x 24.

1. Make five new friends.

2. Run the half marathon I signed up/paid for (I'm terrified enough that I haven't completely abandoned the idea of abandoning the race).

3. Lose weight.

4. Quality, not quantity. In everything - food, clothes, things I buy.

5. Learn to take pictures I'm actually proud of.

6. Stop worrying. About everything - money, if we should move to a house, etc. It.needs.to.stop.

7. Blog more. I'm pathetic, I know it.

8. Know that I kick ace at some things. And proceed to do so.

9. Find a way to get E to enjoy working out.

10. Write our first Christmas letter.

11. Take our first Christmas picture. (These sound simple, but it's amazing how simple things can be so complicated.)

12. Make some prints with the primitive graphic design knowledge I have and display them in our home.

13. Do something awesome and buy champagne to celebrate.

14. Join two young professional and/or social groups.

15. Win a contest of some sort.

16. Brew beer with Eric.

17. Finish decorating our apartment.

18. Eat less Lifesaver mints. (I have a problem...?)

19. Make a homemade card every time I need a card for something.

20. Plan a vacation, even if its only a weekend.

21. Purge my closet (harder said than done).

22. Learn to feel mildly comfortable in a bathing suit.

23. Join a church with E and see both of us get involved.

24. Set and follow a budget.

Anybody else have goals they want to accomplish?

This week's 7.

1. Mr. Swanson and I have spent this weekend being hermits because we're both sick. Trying to sleep the past two nights has been nothing short of a nightmare. ...Maybe 'nightmare' is the wrong word, since you have to sleep to have one. Ugh.

2. I can't stop-won't stop eating watermelon. We (meaning I) go through one a week.

3. Friday night we had a date night at home, and I made this awesome homemade pizza with a garlic butter crust, only to bite into it and have my diseased taste buds reject it and nearly make me gag. I ate ice cream for dinner.

4. I've been dreaming of a photo frame collage for a while and it's currently in the works. Hopefully I'll be ready to share soon!

5. When we got back from Iowa last Monday (Labor Day), I noticed that Netflix had added season 4 of Parks and Rec to the queue. I most definitely did not watch TV for 6 hours that Monday, and did not watch all 22 episodes in two days.

6. If I can impress you any more, I drank a half gallon of orange juice yesterday.

7. My more-recent Netflix obsession? Saturday Night Live, the 2010s. If only I had been aware of Kristen Wiig before she was in 'Bridesmaids'.
