And where you go we'll follow.

So, we took a road trip/bus trip/crazy trip to Chicago. On July 6, we embarked on our first ever Roaddron, with none other than the Cauldron, for the Sporting KC vs. Chicago Fire game. And boy, oh boy, it did not disappoint.

This was, essentially, our schedule:

Saturday - 8 AM: Depart for Chicago
6 PM: Arrive in Chicago
All night: explore the city, drink all the beers, sleep

Sunday, 10 AM: Leave for the game
11 AM: Arrive at stadium. Is that a minimum-security prison? NOPE, just Toyota Park.
11:10 AM: Tailgate while everyone gets sunburnt because hello, sun.
2 PM: Get escorted by security in to the stadium, where we proceed to sweat our faces off.
5 PM: WIN
(Monday) 3 AM: Arrive back in the motherland

There are literally so many things I could say about this trip, but really, I just can't describe how amazing it was. Traveling to see our team put out the Fire...there's nothing like it.

Snickerdoodles for the road, because c'mon.

This would be Jimmy John's, delivering a crap ton of sandwiches to us on the shoulder of an on ramp. Yep.

I will say, I have missed the gratuitous bean photo ops.

Down by the river.

Oooooh baby, I love that boy.

BAM. Chicago.

Oh so sexy.

I title this "We're coming for YOU, Chicago."

The part where my husband said, and I quote, "I'm a salty sailor baby." I die.

Just some proof that our stadium is better.

And in case you were wondering about the title of this post, there's a cheer that goes as such:
We love ya / We love ya / We love ya /
And where you go we'll follow / we'll follow / we'll follow /
'Cause we support the Wizards / the Wizards / the Wizards /
And that's the way we like it / we like it / we like it /
Wooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh / Wooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh / Wooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh / Wooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh

Putting out the Fire

A few weeks ago, we tried desperately to get tickets to the Sporting KC/Chicago Fire game Friday, and to our disappointment, the game was sold out. Well, at least the Member's Stand, lovingly referred to as the 'Cauldron' by all SKC fans, which is the only place we're really interested in sitting (read: standing the entire time).

Ten hours before game time, a friend and one of Eric's coworkers found tickets being sold by someone at Eric's work. Pure joy and immense excitement ensued when Eric emailed me at work saying we had gotten the tickets. Holy crap, yes! I could not wait to wear my new Sporting KC apparel. Kudos to Eric for three out of four birthday gifts revolving around the Sporting.

Our Friday night went from having no plans to the perfect plan. We watched our team beat the Chicago Fire 2-0 (sorry I'm not sorry to my Chicago friends). There was nonstop cheering, yelling at a terrible ref and crazy celebration when Graham Zusi scored his second goal of the game in the final three seconds.

Eek. I love my team.

I also had some pretty witty tweets, if I must say so myself. Which, I must.

We got the cup.

I woke up this morning and something was missing. It was my voice.

Last night was the Open Cup Championship at LIVESTRONG Park, and our beloved Sporting KC was fighting the previous champion (Seattle Sounders) for that beautiful, over-sized goblet.

AND WE WON.

It was amaze-za-zing. When we got to the stadium, it started raining. And then it started pouring. The literal downpour turned into hail. And then it stopped, and there was a double rainbow. And this all happened BEFORE the game.

I could tell you so much about the game itself, but I think you'll get sick of it before I'm finished. But the game was cray-cray, people, involving 95 minutes of regular game time, two overtimes and ending in a shoot-out. Bless our loved Jimmy Nielsen. That's all I can say.

Post downpour and soaked.

Some friends we went with, during the 30 seconds we sat down.

DOUBLE RAINBOW! (in formation)

That's Jimmy, warming up. Don't hate me for my point and shoot's crappy quality.

Serious celebration. Shirts were taken off. Not mine, though.

You can kind of see the cup.

...In case it wasn't clear, I lost my voice (E did, too) from cheering loud. The entire game. And after.
