Friends, games & drinks

My good friend Mike was in town this past weekend for a conference. He brought along his friend Nicole, whom Eric and I decided is pretty amazing essentially right after meeting her. Which was awesome, considering they crashed at our apartment. 

Between Mike and Nicole's conference, and my and Eric's jobs, we hung out as much as we could. Saturday night was freakin' sweet - we went out for thee best barbecue, came back, I made margaritas and then we played Settlers.







Like I said, pretty.freakin'.sweet.

Random & vintage & beautiful all over

So last weekend in Des Moines, I decided before I left that I had quickly grab some shots of my cousin Erika's room. If she had a blog, I would link you to it because she's genius in all senses of the word and essentially my third sister. (Take the hint, Erika - start a blog!)

She transformed her room into a place filled with vintage and thrift store goodies. I'm amazed at her ability to put old things together in a way that freshens them up. While it's hard to choose what my favorite aspect is, I think it's the photo frame collage full of pictures of Erika and her dad. It's beautiful, eclectic and perfect.

A sew-sew weekend

I spent the weekend in Des Moines visiting some family. Saturday my cousin Erika and I crafted/sewed all day, and it was the best. I came home with four scarves and feeling revived for the week. Family is it.

Fall [eek]

- Fall smells
- Obsessed with my new rug that I paid <$5 for
- Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes
- The best tie-dye I've ever done, for my volleyball league
- FINALLY a pizza that can hold us over until we can have Aurelio's again
- It's understood in this marriage that once fall officially hits, I must make Eric a pumpkin pie (yes, I really mean an entire pie for himself). And anything less than lots of whip cream is purely unacceptable.

Fall has been good to us so far.

- Pumpkin muffins before church.
- Programming in his cardigan.
- Living room reminders.
- Prepping the closet for fall (heck yes!).
- Beer at Blanc Burgers & Bottles.
- Baking cupcakes (from scratch and everything) for coworkers.
- Sporting KC gifts from E for my birthday.
